Through a combination of well-integrated services and specialized sector expertise, they serve the diverse needs of many charities, including faith-based organizations, and small to mid-sized owner-managed businesses at every stage in their business life cycle.

They are seeking trustworthy professionals who work efficiently, accurately, and collaboratively to join their team. This is a great opportunity for a developing accountant to use and build upon their experience! The position offers significant opportunities for growth, in both compensation and accounting skill development.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Leading and performing audit and review engagements for both private businesses and not-for-profit organizations
  • Meeting with Boards of Directors and/or Audit Committees to present audit/review results
  • Preparation of working papers for compilation of Notice to Reader, year-end financial statements
  • Government reporting (GST/HST, payroll, T3010, EHT)
  • Preparation of Personal & Corporate Income Tax returns
  • Responding to clientele inquires/requests with added value
  • Providing advice and training to other staff members
  • Other responsibilities and projects as required

The Successful Candidate | Key Characteristics, Competencies & Qualifications

  • Passion for an increasing knowledge base in business and taxation
  • Client-focused thinking
  • Honesty, integrity, promptness, and ethical behavior
  • CPA designation
  • A minimum of 3-years’ experience in a public accounting including audit experience
  • Strong knowledge of QuickBooks, Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Word, Outlook & PowerPoint
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong time-management, including the ability to manage conflicting priorities
  • A high level of accuracy and strong attention to details
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Professional in demeanor with superior written and oral English communication skills
  • Team-oriented and client-focused thinking
  • Individual contributor and team-oriented collaborator
  • Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience and commitment to working with charitable organizations is an asset
  • Working knowledge of CCH Engagement, Practice Management & Tax Prep an asset

Information to Note Before Applying

All candidates chosen for interviews with the client must:

  • Undergo a timed (one-hour / six questions) accounting test

Compensation Hiring Range: $75,000 - $85,000

(Commensurate with experience & reviewed annually based on performance)
